Starting with 8 key people, Craig Makin founded Makin Metals in 1987. The operations began on Annacis Island. Makin moved to Surrey’s industrial Port Kells area. With over 40,000 sq ft in BC and 25,000 sq ft in Alberta, and a global supply chain, Makin Metals has developed into one of the largest Flat Rolled Distributors in Western Canada.
Makin ensures a supply of top quality product at competitive prices due to supply channels from both domestic and offshore mills. The company imports steel and aluminum primarily from China, Taiwan, Korea, the Philippines, Russia and South America as well as Canada and the US.
Makin partnersthrough steel trading companies as well as directly with mills throughout Asia and South America, ensuring a unique supply balance. They practice due diligence to ensure that the mills deliver product up to their quality and specifications.
